Some phones just look the same. It is probably the result of the wide releases of such basic phones. Manufacturers simply do a sequel of sorts of an otherwise recognizable product. While some are busy making fashion-forward phoens, others simply rely on what has been successful of late. As the old adage goes, “If it ain’t broke, why fix it?”
Which is nothing to say againt the new phone by Samsung. The SGH-A717 has been regarded by many reviewers as a clone or even a rebirth of the SPH-M610. Well, they both been manufactured by the same company so I guess no lawsuits there. This clamshell style, or flip phone if you will, is a slim phone that is capable of giving you an enriching multimedia experience. Of course, it goes without saying that it comes with quite a ubiquitous price tag that you would not mistake for being a cheap buy.
It is an addition to the growing line of phones that the company has made compatible to 3G. That alone is already a potential draw. Combined with a digital player and a 2 megapixel camera, it can boast of a reasonable multimedia experience it has touted before. Plus, it has Bluetooth interface.
One gripe you will hear from many reviews is it has quite a little display. The text display is too tiny for your comfort. Just does not make any sense since its predecessor also had the same flaw.
Still, a better-than-usual feature set may just be enough to convince you that its is not a shabby phone to have at all.
