Nokia is always known for not being the most usual manufacturer to make certain risky decisions with regards to the design of their mobile phones. They may always go for either basic looking phones or business class phones. Their designs are not exactly minimalist but they would seldom attract adjectives such as “fashion forward” or even “controversial”. However, from time to time, Nokia Corp. will manage to get in the news for something that is far from the usual Nokia news.
The company, regarded as the world’s largest cellphone maker, said on Tuesday a touch-screen version of its popular S60 smartphone software would be ready in 2008. Now, this would surely raise a lot of eyebrows. After all, it was just this year that a certain popular phone had the same innovative technology that mobile phone users were not exactly too fond off. Also, Nokia’s S60 software platform is used extensively in Nokia’s range of mid- to high-end phones. Of course, this goes without saying that this move will open new doors for other upcoming Nokia releases.
