Last month signaled the start of Nokia branching out to Global Positioning Service or GPS. It also aimed to cut the startup time for location-based online service. From the usual three minutes, it now goes for the one minute mark. This is now their standard for cell phones that are GPS-enabled.
In the future, the company hopes they would be able to equip this service to virtually all of their units and devices. Those who would experience this feature would be the Nokia 6110 Navigator and the next N95 multimedia computer. The service is said to have the ability to reduce the time a connected mobile device with built in GPS needs to find its current position, known as time to first fix(TTFF) for most geographical locations worldwide. The reduced fix times can then increase and even improve the usability for all Nokia location-based features.
