There’s a news I read about a new virus spreading around and infecting mobile phones. This one is quite unique as it rides with the popularity of the latest movie “The Da Vinci Code”.
According to mid-day.com
it has affected dozens of mobile phones and laptops in the city. The virus, which spreads via wireless Bluetooth technology, causes a message to pop up on Bluetooth devices: ‘Receive message via Bluetooth from Da Vinci Code?’ Once a curious mobile phone user accepts the message, the virus enters the system and destroys the phone’s data.
A picture depicting an eye and a cross appears on the desktop and phone’s gallery.
A quick search about the Da Vinci Virus from the internet doesn’t give me much news about it so I have a strong feeling that this has not yet propagated enough and it seems that it started in india since the first news about it came from mid-day which is a mumbai based media company.
The image above appears on the gallery of infected phones.
Some reminders to prevent being infected with the Da Vinci Virus (or any mobile virus):
1. Disable your bluetooth. Just enable it when you are about to use it.
2. Be careful with accepting anything that came from the bluetooth network. If you are not expecting anything, just discard it.
