Yahoo, one of the most popular Internet companies in the whole world, has its sights set on making a mark in the world of mobile world. The Web titans are coalescing with one of Latin America’s top mobile companies to provide mobile Web services in key territories in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Yahoo is joining forces with mobile phone company America Movil to provide mobile Web services to 16 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The two companies have agreed to make Yahoo’s oneSearch service the default on America Movil’s wireless carriers’ portals. Plans could also be underway for localized version of the application for each region. There are also reports that in the future, other services from the Web company shall be made available.

America Movil has 143 million wireless subscribers and is based in Mexico City.
