Google mad quite a pronuncement Monday. After months of speculation, they are finally making the big move that would surely be a boost to their stock. Moreover, they are poised to become a player in a world unbeknownst to them before.

Google was to announce an open source development platform for mobile applications that will contain a full set of components, including an operating system, a set of common APIs, a middleware layer, a customizable user interfaceWhat’s more, a mobile browser seems to be in the picture as well. Instant messaging standard protocols will also be supported.

The said mobile platform is intended to simplify the process of creating and deploying mobile applications. Thus, a mobile application can be built once and be compatible with numerous phones. Various companies are reportedly signified their willingness to support. Among these companies are Qualcomm, Intel, Nvidia, Sprint Nextel, T-Mobile, LG, and HTC, according to several reports.
