Mobile marketing is one of the hottest channels to tap these days.  Almost everyone has a phone and everyone who hears an incoming SMS message alert will at least look at the SMS message. This is one of the ultimate advantages of mobile marketing.
Traditional media marketing such as print ads, radio, tv does not get the same quality “eyeballs” as that of mobile marketing. I’m pretty sure when reading print ads, or tv commercials, you tend to have an “ad blindness” because most of the time, you don’t really “see” the ad.
Mobile marketing costs is so much cheaper than other forms of media.  Typical costs of a 30 second commercial is in the thousands of dollars.  Using mobile marketing, cost can be as low as a few hundreds.
What I also like about mobile marketing is that it is quite similar to internet’s Pay per click advertising, or email advertising. There is a way to monitor and track the effectivity of the campaign.
Lets say you offer some mobile coupons. You can have a figure of how many people used that coupon as compared to the number of SMS messages sent to subscribers. You then have a percentage and you can compare the effectivity of this campaign from previous offers or from other marketing channels (ie. email campaign, direct mail..etc).
You are so correct about mobile marketing. I have been using it for a few months now and it is the most effective advertising that I’ve ever done.
