Microsoft Takes On iPhone

The competition between Apple and Microsoft might not be limited to computers in the long run. After the success of the iPhone, it seems that Apple had taken the war into the turf of mobile phones. Of course, it was only a matter of time before Microsoft followed suit, right? Well, a hint has been given that the retaliatory phone is coming real soon.

An executive in Microsoft’s entertainment and games division has somehat dropped a hint that Microsoft may be developing its answer to rival Apple’s popular iPhone, with their product based on Windows Mobile OS. At a conference, Mindy Mount, corporate vice president and CFO for Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices Division, was reported to have said it is not that farfetched at all to surmise that the company will integrate photo, music and touchscreen features into a Windows Mobile product in the future. However, there were no elaborate statements regarding what it could look like.

Microsoft’s idea with Windows Mobile has been to move everyday business capabilities such as accessing e-mail and documents, from the PC to the mobile device.
