It seems AT&T is feeling the pain of the short end of the stick. While it is the iPhone we are about to discuss, it is not really Apple that is getting most of the consequences of the dupes they are getting from the hackers. Rather, it is the mobile carrier that is receiving the brunt. Moreover, this news is not from a third party. It is according to Apple Corp. itself and they seem to admit they are losing this particular battle.
The companyrevealed last week that some 250,000, or about 18 percent, of all the iPhone units sold so far have been unlocked, so they can run on cell nets other than their exclusive carrier, AT&T. According to various online sources, Apple COO Tim Cook told analysts that these quarter of a million phones were sold to buyers who intended to unlock them right from the start. He also forewarned that Apple would not let those aforementioned unlocked phones to be workable for long.
Surely, this is a saga that we would never hear the end of until someone relents.
