While Apple Inc. has yet to release any official numbers, it is quite safe to say that the iPhone sold quite briskly on its release. However, similar to other hugely marketed products, it is forced to bear the brunt of a lot of bloated expectations. Still, some analysts have said that even inflated forecasts would not stop the iPhone from beating the odds.
Analysts have placed estimates from 500,000 to 700,000 iPhone units to have been sold over the last weekend. That, for sure blows the previous forecasted numbers out of the water. In fact, those figures doubled industry projections. It is to be expected since on its release, some sellers have reported that the iPhones were already out of stock, thanks to hordes of consumers eagerly anticipating the most talked-about phone yet.
This also bodes well for the rest of the year for the company. For sure, Steve Jobs is grinning ear-to-ear, even though some buyers were out to ride the wave by selling it on eBay.
