Surely there isn’t such a thing as a free cellphone. Not unless it doesn’t work.

So what’s with this free cellphone thing and how can these carriers offer free cell phones ?

The catch is that you are tied to their service for a specific number of months or 1 year, or 2 years depending on the cost of the phone.

Are these free cell phone deals worth it ?

It depends. As for me, if I wanted to have a new free cell phone, I could just cancel my existing service and avail of that free mobile phone offer. Even if I’m tied down to their service for a year or so, I don’t mind specially if I’ll be getting that free motorola razr v3.
