The T401g  has drawn a lot of interest from prepaid users, as it was the first Net10 model to offer a QWERTY keyboard.   The phone also offers an mp3 player, a 1.3 megapix camera, and also  first time on a Net10 phone, a camcorder.

The phone  includes a slide-out keyboard, which I really like. It  has three rows of keys, with a little space between each of them.  

What I like about the screen is that it rotates when you open the slider, so the screen is positioned correctly for use with the QWERTY keyboard. 

Now let’s take look around the rest of the Samsung T401g. On the left side you’ll see the rocker switch to adjust the volume, either for call volume if you’re in the middle of a call, or for ringtone volume if you’re not connected.

A little lower on the left side is the microSD card slot. You can use these cards to store mp3s, pictures, and videos. I’ve heard of people using up to 16gb cards in this phone, and it also seems that MicroSDHC cards work too.

At the top of the right side is the connector that is used for the charger, headset, and USB cable. This is something I didn’t like. Since the connector here is something that is found only on Samsung phones, you’ll have to either buy an adapter or buy a special headset if you want to listen to music or make voice calls using a wired headset. I was able to find an adapter for $6 on Amazon, but it really bothers me when manufacturers do something like this.

Moving on now down the right side, you’ll find the camera shortcut key. It doesn’t do anything when the phone is locked. If the phone is unlocked, it loads the camera function.

And just to give you a quick look at the camcorder, click on menu and select camcorder, then press either the center key on the directional pad, or the camera shortcut key to begin recording. Press it again to stop recording, and then you’ll be able to replay your video or even send it in an MMS message.

The video recorded with this device is not the highest quality. It looks a little grainy even on the screen of the phone, and a little worse on a bigger screen. You won’t want to do any serious video with this recorder, but it is fun to have available.

One more thing I wanted to discuss – the mp3 player is nicer than the Motorola EM326g. It actually doesn’t sound too bad through the built-in speaker, which surprised me. But if you’re listening for any extended period of time, you’ll definitely want to use headphones. And bluetooth is also an option, if you have a stereo bluetooth headset.

Well, there’s a quick overview of the Samsung T401g. To sum it up, I’m having fun with this model. It’s a little bigger than what I’m used to, but I guess that’s necessary to accommodate the keyboard, camcorder, and mp3 player. Battery life and reception are very good, and the screen is big and bright. It doesn’t sound quite as clear for voice calls as the EM326g, but it’s still pretty good. All in all, I like it. I would give it 4 stars out of 5.

This format is usually used for thumbnails which is why the file extension ITHMB  (short for THUMBnail, and of course, the usual letter “I” at the start which is heavily associated with Apple such ash (iphone, ipod, itunes..etc).
Technically the ITHMB files are 16-bit uncompressed raw picture.  If you are wondering why uncompressed,  i think it is because having to uncompress photos on-the-fly needs a greater processing power and will drain your batteries faster.

Apparently, they have a huge variety of the latest and popular ringtones.  The files are available also in  mp3, wav and m4r format.

What I also like about brinked.com is their facility to “create your own ringtone”.   So if you have a recorded message, recorded sound, or any audio that you would like to make into a ringtone, you can actually do it.

There is no DOC files then, only the ascii TXT file extention, and file extension WRI for “write”.  The application was later on improved to handle the early versions of windows word (.doc) files.

Nowadays, since most computers doesn’t have any “windows write” files, it is rarely to see WRI related errors but if there is,  most probably it is a registry related error which can be fixed by the usual registry fixing software out in the market.

As most QPW errors are registry related, one can fix this by trying out a free registry repair software.  There are a good number of these on the internet.

I was able to dismantle parts of it but if I will go ahead and dismantle everything, I should need a schematic diagram with some repair and troubleshooting guides as how to evaluate and find out what the problem is.

The Apple pages which can be identified with having a file extension PAGES, is part of Apple’s iWork suite, which also includes Keynote (for presentations similar to Powerpoint) and Numbers (for spreadsheets similar to Excel).

Apple pages has been compared with MS Word.  Although in terms of usage, MS Word clearly outnumbered Apple Pages users,  some might say (specially the Apple fanatics) that Apple pages is far superior than word.

It has also been argued that the PAGES format is far better than the standard DOC format.  However, since DOC format has already a widespread use,  it has become the defacto standard in document format.

The ASF format does not specify how media (audio or video) should be encoded.  It just specifies the structure of the video/audio stream.  You might find this similar to the function performed by the QuickTime, AVI, or Ogg container formats.

One of the objectives of ASF was to support playback from digital media servers, HTTP servers, and local storage devices such as hard disk drives.

The most common filetypes contained within a file extension ASF  are Windows Media Audio (WMA) and Windows Media Video (WMV). Note that the file extension abbreviations are different from the codecs which have the same name. Files containing only WMA audio can be named using a .WMA extension, and files of audio and video content may have the extension .WMV. Both may use the .ASF extension if desired.

ASF files can also contain objects representing metadata, such as the artist, title, album and genre for an audio track, or the director of a video track, much like the ID3 tags of MP3 files. It supports scalable media types and stream prioritization; as such, it is a format optimized for streaming.

1.  HP Photo Album

One of the PVM formats is produced by Hewlett-Packard’s Image Zone Plus software.  It is a tool bundled with various hardware such as digital cameras, and printers.

This PVM file contains XML data for each image in the album. These albums are meant for burning to CD for viewing.

2.  Parallel Virtual Machine

The second file extension pvm that I can think of is  for Virtualization.   Parallels Desktop for Mac is a hardware emulation application suing a hypervisor technology.  It works by mapping the host computer’s hardware resources directly to the virtual machine’s resources, allowing each virtual machine to operate identically to a standalone computer.  In a sense, each virtual machine (Parallel Machine) works as if it was a standalone PC.
