Sanyo has released its follow-up to its addition to the market filled with slim phones, the Katana. Dubbed the Sanyo Katana II, for obvious reasons, this mobile phone is a superslim gadget that is in alliance with the Sprint network. This also aims to be an improvement from last year’s edition which critics and reviewers had mixed judgments.

Right off the bat, the Sanyo Katana II has a better design in terms of appearance, lines, curves and is actually quite smaller than its predecessor. With dimensions of 3.7 x 1.9 x 0.6 inches, it makes it a real handy phone for buyers. Quite a downer though is the display. At about 2.2 inches diagonally, it supports 65,000 colors which is a far cry for most mobile gadgets these days.

Among its features, it is reportedly almost the same as the original Katana, albeit with few additions. Chief among the added features is basically an upgrade. It now supports Bluetooth 2.0 and the memory is now 21 MB. It also has access to Sprint Navigator. Also, it has a VGA camera.

Sanyo and Sprint has been playing beautiful music together for so long. It has contributed a lot to the company, considering it has been placed high in consumer rankings with emphasis on mobile phones.

Continuing this trend is the Sanyo SCP-3200. Coming out in three colors – Atlantic blue, Midnight Black and Playful Pink – this mobile phone is simple looking but more than makes up for it with its functionality and user-friendliness. The features and performance are also quite huge assets.

Offering midrange features like Bluetooth, VGA camera and speakerphone, it is definitely a respectable phone. Plus, it is even affordable so there won’t be any regrets on our part. This flip phone also has a dominant speaker that allows for clear voice quality. If any, this is a solid midrange phone with a rather satisfactory price tag.

The debut of Sanyo in producing high-end phones in the market could be considered as something that pretty much went under the radar. Still, it should be a point of dispute that it actually has just made itself a player in the market already judging from its initial release, the Sanyo M1.

Judging from its design, one can already sum up that it is quite packed. The size of the phone alone has to be considered one of the heftier ones out there, with dimensions of 3.6 x 1.9 x 0.9 inches. Inside, it has 1 GB of memory ready for your phone crazy conumption. Be warned though: the M1 does not have anything to offer in terms of additional memory so try to put that 1 GB in good use.

This phone is more for those who crave the multimedia phone use. Its music player is capable of going the 18 hours route. Also, one strong point of the Sanyo M1 is that you can recharge your phone through a PC, using a USB cable. Travellers, you have been saved!

As for its 2.0 megapixel camera, while it may have flaws, it still proves to be useful. The performance is also noteworthy. It is definitely something you can buy and not regret later.

This is fully loaded with multi-media that can delight the user.

Sanyo M1 can store up to 16 hours of music (or it can be data and/or images). It also comes with a 2 mega-pixel camera with auto-focus. To 3D gamer out there I’m pretty sure that will enjoy playing the built-in games on this handset that includes Pac-Man, Midnight Bowling and a demo of Tetris. This Sony M1 is available for $199.

CNET Reviews:

The good: The Sanyo M1 is a feature-packed multimedia phone with a 2-megapixel camera, EV-DO support, ReadyLink (Sprint’s push-to-talk service), a music player, stereo speakers, access to Power Vision content such as streaming audio and video, and an astounding 1GB of internal memory. Audio quality is good as well.

The bad: The Sanyo M1 is a boxy and clunky handset. You’ll also have a hard time taking self-portraits due to the lack of a self-portrait mirror and the location of the camera. It can be hard to view the screen in bright daylight.

The bottom line: The Sanyo M1 is a multimedia-powerhouse cell phone from Sprint. It won’t win any design awards, but its solid feature set and 1GB of internal memory make this an excellent handset for media junkies.
