The company recently acquirec Soundbuzz. For those not familiar with that brand name, it is a Singapore-based company that is involved in digital music in Asia. Thus, a lot of insiders are currently in belief of a theory that Motorola may be doing so in an attempt to shore up its MotoMusic service. Mobile music is the specialty of Soundbuzz so the acquisition makes perfect sense.

Soundbuzz has made a killing in the field of mobile music in Asia. Motorola hopes that the popularity of ringtones and ringback tones in the region remains for quite a long time. Some have indicated that this latest move could vault Motorola in the region in terms of mobile music.

According to Nielsen RingScan, a reputed group that specializes on these fields of study, the best-selling mastertone of 2007 is – drum roll please – “Buy UÂ A Drank (Shawty Snappin’)” by T-Pain. If you have not heard of it at all, chances are, you are not a club goer. Even moreso, you are not among the owners of 2.3 million units that have the track. The R&B track ringtone has outperformed even the same song’s download hits and CD sales as well.

It is clear that the brilliant marketing worked well for mobile users and the catchy ditty has somehow become part of pop culture.

The company has released an update to iTunes that blocks users from creating free custom ringtones and then syncing them to an iPhone. Despite Apple’s best efforts to dispose off such users, a workaround has already been found and posted in the Internet. A method of using iTunes to create ringtones for the highly anticipated product using songs not purchased from the iTunes Store was first posted by the website Macrumors.com on Friday. Users confirmed after installing iTunes 7.4.1 last night that the method no longer worked.

That tdid not stop Engadget from working around it again. So, it is back to the drawing board for Apple.

Until this one occurred. The company Ambrosia Software has just introduced the iToner 1.0.0. It is a new utility for Mac OS X that would enable iPhone consumers and owners to create and install custom ringtones to their prized acquisition. With the iToner, one has to simply drag and drop audio files onto the interface and click a button. The utility then installs the custom ringtones on to the iPhone. The interface of the application itself actually seems to replicate the iPhone, to make it as easy as it should be.

The company also disclosed that the software works without having to modify or even hack an iPhone unit, in order for the custom ringtones to continue to work with future iPhone OS updates.

The news advisory applies to batteries manufactured by Matsushita from December 2005 to November 2006, the mobile phone maker said. Nokia has identified that in very rare cases the BL-5C batteries could potentially experience overheating initiated by a short circuit while charging, causing the battery to dislodge. There have been approximately 100 incidents of overheating reported globally. All of the approximately 100 incidents have occurred while charging the battery.

To determine if your Nokia phone may be one of the affected products, the said Nokia battery will have “Nokia” and “BL-5C” printed on the front of the battery. On the reverse, the Nokia mark appears at the top and the battery identification number (that has 26 characters) is found at the bottom.
