The company has released a free download that allows the users of BlackBerry smart phones to sync their device with the company’s application called Google Calendar. Thing is, how so?

Actually, it is quite easy. The phone users can go to m.google.com/sync via their BlackBerry’s Web browser to download and install the software. Another step is to install it on their PC running the BlackBerry desktop software, and then install it to the BlackBerry via a USB connection later on.

Syncing the Google Calendar to the BlackBerry lets users view their schedule even when the wireless reception is poor or unavailable, such as when they are riding a subway or airplane.

The look and design is the same as its predecessor. It is still compact but still manages to be sexy at the same time. The slim profile is still there with measurements of 4.2 inches long by 1.9 inches wide by 0.5 inch deep and weighing 3.4 ounces. The silver or black chassis is quite outstanding to look at. Sounds familiar? Well, it is the same as the original.

It has 2.25 inch screen that displays 65,536 colors and has a 260 x 240 pixel resolution. What sets it apart from the previous incarnation, though, is the set of new features the BlackBerry Pearl has to offer now. Among the many additions are GPS, 2-megapixel camera, EV-DO support, video recording and 3G support. Also, the Web browser is better than ever.

Soem have complained about the complicated SureType keyboard as well as the above average call quality. Still, the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 is undoubtedly an improved version of an already impressive smart phone.

Now, they are believed by many to be engaging iPhone to a battle. They are said to be working on a BlackBerry set to rival Apple Corp.’s highly touted phone with a touchscreen device of their own. The BlackBerry 9000 series will be aimed at the consumer market, where the BlackBerry Pearl has enjoyed plenty of success since its launch last year marked a change of direction for RIM.

While no official announcements have been made, the 9000 series is said to set to appear in the first quarter of next year.
