The Nokia E90 Communicator is a one huge asset to the company, literally and figuratively. It is quite a heavy hitter in terms of performance and weight but it sure comes in a mammoth package.

Of course, it should be noted that without any semblance of 3G support, it is quite a letdown. However, if you could get past that fact then it is rosy all the way thru. At 5.2 by 2.2 by 0.7 inches and weighing in at 7.4 ounces, this is a big piece of mobile gadgetry. The exterior screen is a beauty at 2 inches diagonally, with a 16 million color display and a 320 x 240 pixel resolution.

The internal display, on the other hand, is 3.6 inches wide and has a 16 million color output and cool 800 x 352 pixel resolution. There is of course the full QWERTY keyboard. As for the features and performance, it is loaded with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS support and even a 3.2 megapixel camera.

The N-Gage gaming platform, once a failure, is making up for past disappointments and this is no exception. Those who have been familiar with the Yamake game is now up for some creativity issues.

Players will now be able to implement their own games using content from a variety of mini games. Basically, users can now use design tools to create their own mini games such as picture puzzles and quizzes using text, pictures, sound clips and movies from their the mobile device. Others could also use their personal computers as well.

Those who want to take full advantage have a variety of options as well. They can get those features from the N-Gage Arena, Yamake community online as well as MMS. Gaming could very well evolve with this latest development.

Do not be shocked when the next cell phone you own would be from Romania. After all, reports are indicating that Nokia, a Finnish company by the way, is planning to put some of its labor line there from Germany. Hence, a country which had some clouds of doubt hanging over their heads in regard to foreign investment, would now have a mobile phone manufacturer to gleam a ray of hope.

A tiny village in the country called Jucu is said to be hosting a new factory for Nokia mobile phones. This spells quite some doom for German workers. Cheap labor is music to many businesses’ ears and Nokia heard that music as well. Therefore, German workers are probably up in arms right about now with Nokia’s plans.

The $88 million investment in Romania could prove to be a boost for the country as well as teh company. As for Germany, their loss is clearly Romania’s gain. After all, Nokia is a big company that would very well leave a lot of Germans jobless once they move to someplace else.

The Nokia N81 supports both the Nokia Music store and the resuscitated N-Gage gaming platform of the manufacturer. The idea of having a music phone and a gaming equipment is quite an intriguing prospect. However, reviews have mostly skewered the N81.

The physical specimen is not the usual slender unit released these days. On the contrary, it is quite the exact opposite. On the front, there is a 2.4-inch diagonal non-touch screen that could tackle 16.7 million colors at a 320 x 240 pixel resolution The N81 measures 4 inches tall by 1.9 inches wide by 0.7 inch deep and weighs 4.9 ounces. the navigation controls takes a lot of patience to master.

It does not support 3G as well. It does have some great features too. A 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and e-mail capabilities are some of its better assets. Still the negatives kind of takes away the potential of the Nokia N81.

Â

Nokia estimates 1.14 billion phones were sold in 2007. More importantly for the Finnish company, however, is their claim that a huge chunk of that figure belongs to Nokia. According to them, 40 percent of those phones bore the Nokia brand. Also, they have reported a 44 percent rise in net profit for the fourth quarter, on sales that increased 34 percent.

New phones and multimedia devices that began shipping in volume during the quarter accounted for about 30 percent of profits and revenue. This could be attributed to the huge following of the company all over the world. In Asia, 40 percent was also the figure presented by Nokia. However, it should be noted that the key North American market was not one of the company’s success stories.

The region is one of Nokia’s smallest geographic market. Still, Nokia is planning ahead as it is counting on its acquisition of digital mapping data provider Navteq, and its move into the Internet services business.

Nokia handsets are the latest victims of a worm that has spread over many handsets. A security vendor has recently uncovered a SymbianOS Worm that is actively spreading on mobile phone networks. Sure looks like a lot of Nokia users would be very pissed.

The handsets that are recently been hit were the Nokia 6600, 6630, 6680, 7610, N70 and N72. These handsets are all Symbian S60 enabled. The worm has been identified as SymbOS/Beselo.A!worm. It has been described as being disguised as a multimedia file (MMS) with an evocative name: either Beauty.jpg, Sex.mp3 or Love.rm.

The worm is said to be spreading in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. When installed, the worm harvests all the phone numbers located in the phone’s contact lists and targets them with a viral MMS carrying a SIS-packed (Symbian Installation Source) version of the worm.

Nokia is arguably the most popular brand in cell phones for the past few years. It has a popularity that has not waned at all. However, it has one area that has found itself a bit too weak for their liking: the North American market. It has not yet made their mark there lately like it was supposed to be and similar to the rest of the world.

The company aims to change it. For the current year, it plans to have a huge undertaking specifically to address that problem. The latest rankings may show that Nokia has not made that much of an impression as oppossed to its rivals. That may well be the reason why Nokia is planning to launch from six to as high as twelve phones this year.

These phones are said to be customed for the carriers in the said region. It may not even be that surprising if the company exceeds those numbers, just to ensure to make a bigger impact in the North American market.

Most of use, before we buy mobile phones and other gadgets, we usually check out first what others are saying about a product. It is really a nice idea to read about reviews and comments from other people who already bought the product.

Right now, I’m eyeing a Nokia N95 which was the mobile phone I posted 2 days ago and I’m also looking at a region free dvd player.  I usually check out the reviews at pcmag, cnet, and wise. Then I go on to read other mobile related blogs for more.
For the nokia N95, wise.com has a nice collection of links to different reviews in other sites.  As for the region free dvd player that I wanted, I found a couple of dvd players that I wanted to check out. But I think that would be more appropriate in my other blog called gadgetmetro.com

This is the bulked up version of the Nokia N95 released earlier. Does it improve on its predecessor? Or is it a chunky way of making new things just the same as before? The original N95 was a best selling phone so this 8GB version has a lot of catching up to do in terms of replicating the original’s success.

Well, there were some changes in order to achieve that lofty goal. First, it has a larger screen the the first edition. This makes it a more enhanced experience in surfing the Net as well as watching video clips. The interface has become a snappier way, not to mention the keys seem somehwat more comfortable to press nowadays. The black color also achieves a better look and feel for the phone.

While the big body still does not suit its profile and the price tag is a bitt iffy, this is definitely an upgrade for a successor. Thus, the N95 8GB is a noteworthy success.
