The latest phone from the Walkman line seems to be dead serious on making a better sound quality for those who want clarity and less distortion from their phone. Well, the Sony Ericsson W980i aims to do just that.

The Sony Ericsson W980i is not called a Walkman phone for nothing. After all, it is combining two features in order to achieve the desired results of many consumers. Clear Stereo and Clear Bass would make sure that not only does the music feel like it is inside teh studio as it was being made, it also provides sound without the unnecessary hassles like distortions.

Other features include TrackID (identifies any track), PlayNow web download service, Walkman On Top and Stereo Portable Handsfree HPM-77. The Sony Ericsson W980i looks to be a worthy addition to the highly successful phone line after all.

Yes, the Walkman phone series, itself a reinvention of an old gadget, gets to sport a different look this time around. When we featured it before, count us as one of the excited many who wanted to know more details about this new entry from Sony Ericsson.

The W350a is a Walkman flip phone that comes in a range of different snazzy colors and would be available sometime this second quarter of 2008. Quite sleek looking too, as you could see. Its Walkman player can easily be accessed and operated even without opening its flip cover. With Walkman on Top, the key MP3 functions are outside the phone’s flip cover so one can use it just like standalone MP3 player.

There is also a TrackID users can record a few seconds of the song into the phone’s microphone and identify it. The phone shows the name of the song, the artist, and the album so that users can download it .

Keep in mind that some of these phones were unraveled for the first time in the 2008 CES while others may have already been leaked before.

Sony Ericsson W350 - This is one slim Walkman phone from Sony Ericsson. Even with a partial flip phone design, the W350 still checks in at an ultrasexy 10 millimeters. Expect your music phone to be slender like never before. The phone is also said to be equipped with a Track ID.

Sony Ericsson W760 - another Wlakman phone was unveiled in the CES. The W760 is different from the other Walkman line of phones, even from the W350, because it supports HSDPA. For those in the U.S., that is quite a must. Also, it has built-in stereo speakers to enhance the Walkman experience for those who want more.

Like previous years, the CES is a platform for many manufacturers to showcase their latest designs, as well as upcoming releases. Some would be good while some would be panned. The CES is especially famous for many mobile maniacs as it presented some cool phones. Some of them were:

Moto Z10 - Motorola featured a uniquely designed slider phone. It supports, among others, HSDPA and GSM/EDGE. However, what sets it apart is its video editing software. This could be one feature that might set the bar for many others.

Sony Ericsson Z555 - This clamshell phone could very well be too tempting for the fashion-conscious buyer. With a diamond-patterned exterior, it makes sure it has a purpose. It has a motion sensor that silences the phone. Muting the handset never looked so cool. Women would find this cool also.

Then one problem arises. Then another negative trait pops up. Then it goes on. So, it just proves that the old adage is true. Never just a book, or phone, by its cover, or appearance. Case in point: the Sony Ericsson, S500i.

Just looking at it, it is just way too stylish and elegant that it is quite irresistable to hold it and use it. It sports a slider design and it comes fully packed with features. It has a music player, stereo Bluetooth, a 2.0-megapixel camera and a wireless Web browser, among others. Multimedia features are stacked here like pancakes. Its dimensions are 3.9 x 1.8 x 0.5 inches and weighing about 3.3 ounces.

However, it is just way too expensive. Plus, The keypad was cramped up a bit and some controls were just hard.

Some have noted its affinity to the M600i while some have noted its resemblance to the 990i. However, the latter is said to be closest and is regarded as its predecessor. In fact, some have noted that it is quite a vast improvement from the previous installment. It is a definite upgrade, to be exact.

Sony Ericsson P1i could boast of such good features like a touch screen that is regarded as beautiful by a lot of reviews, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Also, there is a 3.2-megapixel camera for those who want to take snapshots. This Symbian smartphone also offers a capable e-mail capabilities, productivity apps for the mobile professional, and most importantly, a good call quality.

It comes with some drawbacks as well. The interface can also be overcomplicated, and the user is actually limited to the company’s headset and expansion cards. All in all, it is still quite a phone with the many upgrades it has done.

The integration of its muic powerhouse with its budding telecommunications tool has succeeded on so many levels. Of course, it is not the innovator of such an alliance and feature. However, it was one of teh most successful as of late in the genre of music phones. After all, you cannot simply go too wrong with a Walkman phone. Whiel it may sound like it is too much of a stretch in terms of brand name, it delivers the goods most of the time.

The latest in this line of Walkman phones is the Sony Ericcson W5801. This slider-type phone boasts of a sexy shape, with dimensions of 3.9 inches by 1.8 inches by 0.5 inches and weighing in at 3.3 ounces, it has somewhat improved on the design front from its previous incarnations. A display of 2 inches small and supporting 262,144 colors, it is satisfactory, to say the least. The navigation keys are also something to look forward to as it makes for comfortable use.

Of course, the multimedia features, particularly its music capabilities, are its main points of excellence. It is indeed stylish and effective on almost every front.

That theory is backed up by the number of cell phones manufactured by Sony Ericsson in their vastly popular WalkMan phone series. One of those added in the ever-growing list is the Sony Ericsson W880i.

It delivers on the aspects one might expect on a WalkMan phone. One of the key elements that really stands out and separates it from the rest of the pack is that it is definitely the slimmest one of the WalkMan series. It measures at a waif-like 9.4 mm.

It allows you to manage music with the WalkMan features. Play, rewind, fast forward and even creating playlists. It even allows you to transfer your favorite music tracks from your CDs. Moreover, for the highly sophisticated music enthusiasts out there, you could record a few seconds and then use TrackID for recognition.

Of course, aside from the music, the W880i it has the tech guy in mind. It provides easy access to the Internet via UMTS and Email thru Push Email. Lastly, Picture Blogging allows you to be more creative with your pictures with captions.

Sometimes, my friends, all you really want is a phone that functions well, performs well and does not cost that much. Other times though, it would be really sweet if that particular phone provides your ears with quality music. Sounds like a WalkMan phone? Well, almost but not quite.

The Sony Ericsson Z710i is basically all that. Well, most of the things you would normally get from a WalkMan phone is in it, except for one minor detail: it is not part of the WalkMan series. Far from it. Still, it achieves what it sets out to be in the first place: an exceptional music phone for consumers.

Here are a few specifications for you to know:

1) Weight: 3.6 oz

2) Up to 350 h standby time

3) Bluetooth, Infrared

4) 2 megapixel camera

5) Up to 600 min talk time

As for the music, it supports a wide array of audio formats and even has an FM radio. So, it really provides music to your ears!
