The LG KF700 is touted as another rival of the uber-successful iPhone and one could easily see why so. The LG KF700 is another phone that incorporates touch screen.

This new multimedia phone promises to be quite intriguing. After all, it is the first phone with a three input method. What is that exactly? Well, it is simply having a 3 inch touch screen, Shortcut Dial and as well as alpha-numeric keypad. Functionality may not be such an issue with this phone after all.

The KF700 also features Bluetooth, MP3 player, 3G support, web browser, 3.0 megapixel camera and HSDPA support. The iPhone has a new competitor and it looks formidable as well.

After all, it did relatively good business last year in an effort to make it a two-way battle. Thus, the iPhone is definitely not yet the clear-cut winner. At elast not that unanimous.

HTC said their mobile phone was able to get 2 million units sold. The Taiwanese smartphone maker has somewhat reached half of what the figures of the Apple iPhone had reached. The HTC Touch was launched in June of last year, which was basically just weeks ahead of the iPhone. The Touch uses Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 software and has a touch screen that takes up most of its face, similar to its rival, the iPhone.

Earlier, Apple announced that it was able to sell 4 million units of the Apple iPhone last year.

Maybe it just got better for many others as well. They have recently announced that they are updating their features to attract iPhone users as well. During the MacWorld conference, an update of its popular mapping and e-mail software especially for the iPhone will be made.

The new Google interfaces will include the addition of auto-complete to hasten e-mail composition. In addition to that, they should include the ability to access iGoogle widgets while browsing the Web with an iPhone. Moreover, the speed of Gmail and Calendar features have been improved.

iPhone users will also be able to customize their Google toolbar in order to make their personal favorite applications more accessible. Thus, Google could become an integral part of many iPhones from now on. This also marks another breakthrough from the MacWorld conference.

As the titans behind Apple and Microsoft respectively, they have tried to outdo each other’s products. Each has had their respective successes and defeats. However, has age made them simmer down and become less competitive?

This could be all the more possible after Gates recently said that his company has no plans to put their own phone in a way to combat the popularity of Apple’s iPhone. While he also reiterated that there are still ongoing plans to strengthen the Windows Mobile platform, coming up with their own version of a mobile phone is not in their immediate future.

This may seem like less competitive of Mister Gates but take note of how strong their platform is. After all, the Windows Mobile is part of some of the more famous handsets out there in the market. You may be using one right now.

Of course, there were other phones that also attracted quite a following but this year would surely be remembered for the rise of one phone.

Apple iPhone - no doubt, the most talked-about phone of this year and probably of the past five years. From a top-of-the-line display to superb features, the iPhone delivered most of what was expected from the hype that surrounded it. Of course, some features were still wanted but it was still popular to people.

LG Voyager – VX10000 - this 3G phone was regarded by many as tops from its market. It is also a touchscreen phone which we might see more often in upcoming releases. The feature set boasted of several high-end services.

Nokia N95 -Â a camera phone that was more than just about taking pictures. This smart phone had cool features like 3G, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. That being said, it is a tad too expensive.

After some talks of their prized product about to go to China, another Asian country could be the next target of Apple Inc. The iPhone could find itself being sold in Japan in just few more months. That is, until the bidding ends. It has been reported that two companies are up against each otehr to acquire the services of the iPhone bonanza.

Apple is said to be talking to company representatives and head honchos of both the top mobile operator in the country as well as the number three. They are NTT DoCoMo Inc. and Softbank Corp. Both are said to be highly interested in becoming the exclusive carrier of the much-publicized phone that has been the craze of the mobile world lately.

Apple needs a local partner to make the iPhone launch possible in Japan to help connect to the wireless networks in the world’s most advanced mobile phone market.

There is a new player in the world of iPhone features: Google. The high-profile company proved that they would make huge strides once more even in the world of mobile technology as they have developed two ways to infuse into the iPhone. Topping the list is their support for its online photo gallery service Picasa on the Apple Cor. product.

It is clear that Google is taking the iPhone seriously as well. The company has completely redesigned and optimized Picasa’s mobile interface for the iPhone. The images are proportioned to fit the unit’s screen, and control buttons have been fixed in order to be easier to navigate with an iPhone user’s fingers.

Moreover, Google has also introduced an iPhone-only slideshow feature that automatically flips through a user’s favorite photo albums. This is a feature that is distinct to the iPhone once more. Clearly, Google and iPhone are in sync with each other.

Yes, geniuses, it is once again another lawsuit emanating from the company’s highly controversial iPhone.

The company is up in arms over the issue of some retailers there selling unlocked versions of the iPhone. They have threatened to pursue legal action as well as damages amounting to almost $700 for every unlocked iPhone that was sold by the retailers of Sim Lin Square, a mall in Singapore. The said mall is known for being a haven for technology stuff.

The iPhone is not officially available in Singapore, but unlocked handsets have been on sale for some time in local electronics market, as they have in other countries around the region.

For the first five days since its launch in France, the iPhone from Apple Corp. sold a huge number, believed to be at 30,000 units. This was according to French mobile phone operator Orange. However, for Orange, it turned out to be a figure that reflected enthusiasm over the unit rather than having a subscription or plan with them.

Customers buying an iPhone from Orange for use on another operator’s network must pay a €100 unlocking charge. That in turn, is waived if they wait for six months from the purchase date. The company also said that some 80 percent of Orange customers bought the iPhone with an “Orange for iPhone” service contract. This contract is said to include unlimited access to the Internet and the Visual Voicemail service.

In a somewhat contrasting way, Orange is now the only network operator partners to sell the iPhone unlocked. It is to comply with a French law that forbids making the sale of one item conditional on the sale of another. As opposed in Germany in which a legal battle had to decide the future of the iPhone.

T-Mobile were forced to sell unlocked versions of the iPhone for quite a time. This time though, they may now return to selling the locked versions of Apple Corp.’s mobile gadget in the country. This is after a verdict by a court in the city of Hamburg allowed the locked versions.

The company’s rival, Vodafone, sued them for allegedly the sale of locked phones tied to a two-year contract breached German consumer protection laws. It could be recalled that the court temporarily ordered T-Mobile to sell an unlocked version of the phone, with no restrictive contract, while it decided the case. That let T-Mobile to sell the unlocked iPhones without a service contract while awaiting for the final decision of the court.

Now, Germans are going to be left with locked iPhones with a plan with T-Mobile. No word yet on what action Vodafone would undertake after the ruling was handed out.
